More Pictures From Trainers Challenge

Trainers Challenge

Well everyone, we just got back from the big Trainers Challenge at Horse Affairs 2009. Kahlua and I had a great learning experience an a lot of fun at this event of events. After a very nervous first night where our performance was lacking at best. We had a great second day and a phenomenal third day.

Kahlua excelled in the trail challenge of the third day and we came up from the bottom to take a close third place finish. Kahlua actually sold for more than the second place horse and not far less than the first place horse. She is going to a nice young family where she will make an excellent youth horse. I will have the pleasure of continuing to work with her in her development as such.

Horse Affairs was a great experience for us all and helped some of us come out of our comfort zone and feel like local celebrities for a few days.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who helped me with preparations and execution of the program at the show. Especially to Corinne, my beautiful wife who sacrificed so much to be there for me the whole time and run the booth(which was her creation)while I was off horsing around. And to her mom, Elaine who helped a lot with everything. And to Donna and Lou Kelleher, who allow me to use their facilities for my training, and were ever so helpful in all of the preparations for the show. Thank you, to everyone who came to watch, for your support.

Enjoy the pictures.

First official horse show

Hey everyone,

Here I am with Kalua at our first official horse show. We placed second in western horsemanship class. And had fun in the Western Pleasure class. Kalua did an excellent job the whole night, she didn't seem to mind the craziness of the show. For those of you who don't know the story on Kalua, she is the horse that I am training for the Trainers Challenge at Horse Affairs on February 20, 2009. Yep it is one week away. Things are starting to get exciting. Please stay tuned for next week I'm sure we will have plenty to report from the Challenge.

Oh, and the mule is Evita shown by Robert Simmons, a long time friend and riding partner of mine. They placed third in Western Horsemanship and fourth in Western Pleasure.

Horses... horses... horses... mule?

Here are a few pictures of the fun that is going on in my world of horse training. I have entered a training competition to be held at Idaho Horse Affairs in Feburary of 2009, and just started my competition horse, Kalua, today. I have been working with a mule named Jake, a paint horse named Spot, two blazers named Annie and Coco, a Fox trotter named Dot, and just picked up a blazer named Luci. I still have time for more if you would believe it. What a blast. I feel very blessed to be able to do something that I have always loved. Have fun looking at the pic's.
